Position summary
The Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/ Professor of Nursing, holds a faculty appointment and has academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the School of Nursing. This individual demonstrates competence in program development/organization, didactic, clinical education, teaching, and curriculum development at the graduate (Grad) level. This individual may have the opportunity to teach also at the undergraduate (UG) level of programming.
Qualifications summary
- Graduate degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution is required
- DNP or PhD in a related field from an accredited institution is required
- Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) preferred
- Two years current experience as a nurse educator and/or Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification preferred.
- Eligibility for licensure in the state of Michigan; current Michigan RN licensure at time of hire
- Ability to work well in teams and form strong student and peer relationships
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Qualified persons may teach in both Undergraduate (UG) and Graduate (Grad) programs
- Participate/lead in skills and simulation lab for clinical group(s)
- Create/Review and update applicable syllabi for courses assigned.
- Evaluate students' course work, lab and participate with clinical/practicum for assigned courses.
- Participate in accreditation preparation and visit when applicable.
- Maintain weekly office hours as required by policy to be available to students.
- Participate in scholarship, service and teaching activities as required by Andrews faculty policy.
- Participate in nursing school activities like graduation, dedication, pinning, recruitment, advising etc.
- Proficient in teaching face to face didactic, clinical experiences and online courses
- If teaching online, abide by the online contract and requirements for teaching.
- Other duties that may be assigned from School of Nursing, College of Health and Human Services, and University levels.
Supervisory responsibilities

This position has no regular supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Evidence of scholarship and publications preferred.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Technical competencies
- Able to create documents, spread sheets and tables with Microsoft Office, and or Excel
- Able to work with PowerPoint, Zoom and or TEAMs
Interpersonal interactions
- Must be comfortable interacting with students in an advisory role.
- Must be comfortable interacting with multiethnic and multinational faculty and student population.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Dynamic presenter/speaker preferred
Physical demands
- Must be able to keep up with the physical demand required for students’ clinical rotation within the healthcare settings as needed.
Work environment
- Undergraduate classes will be taught mostly in Marsh Hall, or other buildings on Andrews University
- Practicums at hospitals, clinics in the community and remote oversight for online students.
- Online courses will be taught through the course Learning Management System (LearningHub).
