Position summary

Position Philosophy:   The theme wall statement embodies the Andrews Academy philosophy: “To restore in man the image of his maker is the object of education.”  This must also be the primary focus in each aspect of the schools’ music programs.  The music teacher – choral emphasis will, among other things, provide leadership for the voice and choral programs at Andrews Academy and Ruth Murdoch Elementary School.

Supervisory responsibilities

Must be comfortable interacting with students, parents and colleagues and be able to respond with poise under stress.  Must have a warm and friendly personality.  Must be willing to train, mentor and supervise students, and also interact on a professional level with faculty and staff.  Must be a team player and fit comfortably with the office atmosphere and philosophy of advocacy.

Using computer and related music software, etc.

Interpersonal interactions

Like all teachers, music educators are well-served by patience, enthusiasm, and dedication. Those who work with serious young musicians should possess great discipline and a drive for excellence in order to inspire the same in their students. Organizational skills are necessary for creating effective lesson plans as are communication skills for getting them across.
