AMITA Health Names Two New Executives

AMITA Health has appointed a pair of seasoned healthcare executives to high-level leadership positions within the organization.
G. Thor Thordarson has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer, and Stuart Marcus, M.D., F.A.C.S., has been appointed to the new position of chief clinical officer.

Thordarson previously served as president and chief executive officer of IU Health La Porte Hospital in La Porte, Indiana. Marcus most recently served as president and chief executive officer of St. Vincent's Health Services in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

"We are excited to have two such highly qualified individuals join our senior leadership team," said Mark Frey, president and chief executive officer of AMITA Health. "At a time of sweeping change in the healthcare industry, Thor and Stuart bring us expertise and experience that will be invaluable as AMITA Health continues its efforts to deliver the highest quality care while growing and adapting to the changing times."

Thordarson started his healthcare career as a nursing instructor and staff nurse at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center and later served as a staff nurse at the Cleveland Clinic. He earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from Andrews University and a master's degree in business administration from Kent State University.
