Sunday Music Series: "Claricello--Looking Forward"

Campus News | Posted on February 4, 2021

Claricello will perform at the Howard Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021, at 4 p.m.

Music provides solace and perspective in trying times. This concert explores the moment in which we find ourselves: hardships we have endured, lives and opportunities we have lost, and possibilities that lie ahead as we persevere and forge new paths forward. Claricello features Lara Turner (cello) and Jason Gresl (clarinet). The program includes works by Belinda Reynolds, Adolphus Hailstork, South Bend composer Zae Munn, and a world premiere commission by Cassie Weiland.

Since forming in 1998, Claricello has embraced a three-fold purpose: first, to explore the sonic and musical possibilities and repertoire of clarinet and cello; second, to create an interactive presentational format in which to engage audiences, spark interest in live classical music, and help listeners to appreciate and better understand contemporary music; and finally to experiment with multidisciplinary elements by working with musicians and other artists who are similarly dedicated to high-level creative performance.

Additionally, a limited quantity of free tickets is available to Andrews University music majors and minors, the Enjoyment of Music class, current Andrews University students and current Andrews University staff.
