Celebrate Teaching!: Wednesday Workshops

October 15, 2008
3:30–4:20 p.m.
Lincoln Room, Campus Dining Services

Topic: Mind Molds Matter: Applying Cognitive Science as a Bridge Between Education and the Brain

Speaker: Karl Bailey, the Department of Behavioral Sciences

Description: In the past two decades, developments in brain scanning technology have provided abundant evidence that the human brain is constantly changing in structure, and that every mental experience leaves a physical trace on the brain. Educators, however, must mold students’ brains without ever observing the physical changes that result. In this session, we will discuss the tools of cognitive science as methods for creating and observing changes in the brain that impact student learning.

Registration: Since the Wednesday Workshops are organized around a complimentary meal or light refreshments, registration is requested to assist in planning. To register for a Wednesday Workshop, please email Larry Burton (burton@andrews.edu) one week before the workshop.
