Position summary
An undergraduate or graduate assistant to provide research support and perform a variety of editorial duties, such as line editing, laying out, indexing, and revising content of written materials, in preparation for final publication. Occasional office support and coursework assistance for online classes.
Qualifications summary

Duties and responsibilities
- Assist with research conduction such as data collection and analysis as needed
- Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts and other materials for publication

- Plan the contents of publications according to the publication's style
- Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources
- Review and approve proofs prior to publication
- Develop and recommend content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal
- Assist with publication production, including layout, computer typesetting, and printing
- Alphabetical and topic indexing, plus checking bibliographical references
- Communicate with publishers about publication submission

Qualifications
- Excellent written skills in English
- Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills
- An eye for detail along with critical thinking
- Prioritizing and multitasking
- Ability to carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision
- Ability to make decisions and establish work priorities
- Hands on experience with MS Office (InDesign and Photoshop desirable)
- Background in communication desirable
- Editorial experience desirable
- Familiarity with web design desirable
