ITS-ADMINISTRATIVE SYSTEMS - Data Warehouse Administrator

Position summary
This position is responsible for administering the university Data Warehouse. Tasks include upgrading and patching of the data warehouse software, configuring connections to various university data sources, and loading additional data as requested. Works with other members of the ITS Administrative Systems team, the staff in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, and end-user departments to ensure that the correct data is available for analysis and reporting for the university.
Qualifications summary
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline.
- Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools, databases and SQL, UNIX/Linux commands and scripting.
- Good problem solving abilities.
- Able to analyze business requirements, work with models and analyze data.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and able to collaborate with and communicate well with both technical and end-user clients.
Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the connections to the university’s Recruit, DegreeWorks, and Banner systems performing software upgrades and making other configuration changes as required.
- Analyze, design, construct and automate efficient extract, transform and load functions for data from additional internal or external sources.
- Assists in testing, troubleshooting and correcting data issues related to extract, transform and load functions.
- Works with Database Administrator and Director of Administrative System to resolve issues between Data Warehouse and other systems.
- Administers user access based on authorized roles.
- Participates in analysis and research design processes to identify additional data and transformations needed to meet the needs of the university.
- Develop documentation for ETL and other processes not covered in the Data Warehouse documentation.
- Monitors systems involved in extraction, transformation, and loading of data into the data warehouse to maximize uptime for users.
- Serves as a coordinator and project manager when developing new reporting features in the data warehouse.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Technical competencies
- Strong working knowledge of databases and SQL in higher education environment
- Minimum of 3 years related experience with data warehousing and ETL tool
- Working knowledge UNIX/Linux commands and scripting ability

- Able to collaborate with and communicate well with both technical and end-user clients
Physical demands
Must be able to sit or stand in an office work area or conference room. No lifting required.
Work environment
Able to work in an open cubicle office environment.
