Position summary
Student [Grad] Assistant in the AEF Department. Assisting faculty with grading and posting grades, research, and other office duties. Helping students and guests who visit the deparment and assisting the Administrative Assistant for the College of Professions.
Graduate student in Business preferred, but others will be considered.
Qualifications summary
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; proficiency with computers and technology; experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel; comfortable interacting on the phone; exceptional written and oral communication skills. Must be able to handle sensitive information confidentially.
Duties and responsibilities
Daily Duties:
- Assisting faculty with grading, posting grades, research and other duties
- Answer phone and email correspondence with clients
- Check voicemails and respond appropriately
- Assist faculty, staff, students, and visitors to AEF and the CP with their needs
- Replenishes printer with paper and notify Derrill when there are printer issues.
- Keep the copier room and supply cabinet clean and organized
Periodic Duties:
- Taking minutes for faculty meetings
- Clean up dishes and kitchenette area in the workroom
- Design posters for CP events and initiatives
- Vacuum offices and suite weekly
- Empty trash in AEF offices twice weekly
Irregular Duties:
- Clean/rearrange furniture in Whirlpool Room or other areas, if needed
- Delivering documents to across campus as needed
- Other duties as assigned

None
Qualifications
- Self-motivated.
- Intermediate Accounting (ACCT 321/322) a plus (but not required)
- Business Finance (FNCE 317) a plus (but not required)
- Can type and use software such as Word and Excel.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Fluency in English required
- Proficiency with computers and technology
- Microsoft Office experience
- Organizational skills
- Scheduling skills
- Dependable/reliable
- Customer service and phone skills
- Ability to handle information of a sensitive nature with confidentiality
- Flexible (ability to change priorities of tasks)
- Length of stay - 1 academic year minimum, longer is highly desired
Technical competencies
Ability to create, maintain and share Excel Spreadsheets, Google Sheets, Google Docs etc.
Ability to use or quickly learn to use course management systems like LearningHub, Cengage, MyBusinessCourse etc.
Interpersonal interactions
- Strong social skills required for assisting visitors with questions or directing them to the appropriate faculty or staff member
- Regular interaction with faculty and staff in a support role
Interact with students and help them with questions or concerns and occasionally motivate them to come to an CP event or field trip
Physical demands
- Mostly sitting at a desk/computer during work hours
- Occasional moving of furniture or boxes
- Must be able to lift upwards of 40 pounds on an occasional basis
Work environment
- Typical office environment with limited noise or equipment hazards.
