Position summary
The
Graduate Assistant for Career Coaching will support the Career Center in providing career development services to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni. This role involves career coaching, assisting with job search strategies, resume and cover letter reviews, interview preparation, and graduate school planning. The graduate assistant will also help facilitate career workshops, mock interviews, and employer engagement initiatives while supporting the overall operations of the Career Center.
Qualifications summary
The qualified candidate will have strong communications skills with an undergraduate degree in communications, bsuiness, counseling, social work, or other relevant field.
Duties and responsibilities
- Provide career advisement and coaching (virtual and in-person) to undergraduate and graduate students and alumni of all disciplines in individual and group settings including choosing or changing a career direction, identifying career goals, establishing a plan of action, writing a resume or cover letter, preparing for an interview, conducting a job search, preparing for career fairs, networking, salary negotiation, and other career-related aspects.
- Assist undergraduate and graduate students and alumni with graduate and professional school planning, selection, and application process. Assist students in the creation of professional and graduate school correspondence material including resume, cover letter, and personal statement development.
- Assist in the creation, maintenance, and delivery of career workshops, career fairs, programs, outreach and other career-related programs to enhance student engagement.
- Conduct mock interviews and provide feedback to help students improve their interviewing skills.
- Facilitate career-related presentations and workshops for student organizations, classes, and campus groups.
- Assist students with the user of career exploration and job search tools including online platforms and assessments.
- Support employer engagement initiatives by assisting in employer outreach efforts and coordinating student-employer connections.
- Assist in maintaining and updating career resources including guides, templates, and digital materials.
- Provide front-desk coverage including greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, and responding to inquiries related to career services.
- Assist with data collection for reporting and analysis.
- Educate students on Career Center resources
- Participate in meetings and training centers
- Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and currently enrolled in a graduate program at Andrews University, preferably in Higher Education Administration or Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, or Theology
- Possess digital fluency with excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, creativity, and a positive attitude
- Ability to engage with a diverse student population
- Experience with social media platforms and basic marketing skills
