Position summary
The Center for Faith Engagement is seeking a student to assist the Chaplain of Belonging and Purpose in providing an Afro-centric worship experience that builds community and fosters discipleship around the
three Cs of worship: Celebration, Contemplation and Commitment.
New Life Fellowship was founded 35 years ago to offer students a worship space that reflects their cultural identity while equipping them with the skills to create meaningful spiritual programming. This experience empowers students to deepen their faith and continue a legacy of impactful worship and spiritual leadership beyond their time at Andrews University.
Qualifications summary
- Graduate student preferred.
- Proven leadership experience in a relevant setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence with the ability to foster community and engagement.
- Term of Appointment: 2025-2026 academic year.
- Mandatory training and leadership retreat: August 11 – August 15, 2025.
Duties and responsibilities
• Engage in Leadership Development: Participate in required training and weekly leadership development labs, including the annual leadership retreat each August and other professional growth opportunities as scheduled.
• Support Faith Engagement Initiatives: Assist with planning and execution of Center for Faith Engagement programs such as Service Sabbaths, collaborative events, and the Faith Development Sub-Committee—The Fellowships, with a focus on the “Commitment” aspect of the 3 C’s of Worship model.
• Manage and Support Ministry Teams: Oversee and provide guidance to assigned personnel, including:
- F.I.T. Ministry Leader(s)
- Minister of Music
- Minister of Training and Development
- Media Ministry Team Leader(s)
• Coordinate Worship Logistics: Utilize New Life’s management tool, Planning Center, to coordinate weekly worship services, including scheduling participants and utilizing "Planning Center Live" for real-time coordination.
• Develop Student Leadership: Assist in recruiting a team of graduate and undergraduate students to actively engage in various aspects of New Life Fellowship experience.
• Track and Follow Up on Action Items: Document key decisions and action items during meetings to ensure follow-through on initiatives.
