The Institutional Grants Officer plays a crucial role in securing external funding for Andrews University, focusing on initiatives and needs that are not typically addressed through academic research channels. This position involves identifying potential sources of revenue, building and maintaining relationships with funding organizations, and preparing and managing compelling grant proposals that align with Andrews University's mission and goals

Duties and responsibilities
• Grant research: Research and identify new government, corporate, foundation and private funding prospects that align with the university's mission and strategic priorities.
• Strategic planning and advising: Participate in strategic planning sessions to identify funding needs and opportunities aligned with the university's mission, advising university leadership on potential funding opportunities and strategies to maximize grant support for institutional initiatives.
• Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, staff, and administrators to identify funding needs and develop corresponding narratives and budgets that can align with grant opportunities.
• Proposal development: Create high-quality letters of inquiry, proposals, applications and supporting documents that effectively communicate the project's objectives, methodology, and impact and are consistent with all policies and procedures of Andrews University, and the requirements and guidelines of the funding agencies.
• Tracking of proposals: Coordinate the progress of submitted proposals, maintaining a master file of pending grants and contracts.
• Grant administration: Oversee the post-award grant management process, including deadlines, submission of required documentation, and management of grant funds, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and maximizing resource allocation.
• Donor relations: Engage in outreach and networking activities to promote Andrews University as a worthy recipient of funding.
• Reporting: Prepare and submit timely progress reports and financial statements to funders, ensuring accountability and transparency. Prepare and present regular status reports to university administration on grant activities, success rates, and funding secured
• Trends and issues: Remain up to date on current trends and issues in grant writing and funding.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required, with graduate degree preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in higher education or non-profit sectors.
• Proven experience in grant writing, with a successful track record of grant acquisitions.
• Strong organizational and management skills.
• Excellent research and analytical skills.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Robust writing and verbal skills, including making presentations and public speaking.
• Knowledge of grant funding regulations and guidelines.
• Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Able to demonstrate Christian maturity, honesty and integrity in conduct.
• Evidence of initiative, creativity, an ability to understand many areas of expertise, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Technical competencies
Ability to effectively use various electronic platforms, including Microsoft Word, Accessand Excel, and database management skills.
Interpersonal interactions
Professional communication in person, over the telephone, through email and other electronic means.
