Position summary
The Center for Faith Engagement is seeking a student to assist the Chaplain of Belonging and Purpose in providing an Afro-centric worship experience that builds community and fosters discipleship around the
three Cs of worship: Celebration, Contemplation and Commitment.
New Life Fellowship was founded 35 years ago to offer students a worship space that reflects their cultural identity while equipping them with the skills to create meaningful spiritual programming. This experience empowers students to deepen their faith and continue a legacy of impactful worship and spiritual leadership beyond their time at Andrews University.
Qualifications summary
- Must demonstrate a strong understanding of the ministry of music.
- Proven leadership experience in a relevant setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence with the ability to foster community and engagement.
- Graduate student preferred.
- Term of Appointment: 2025-2026 academic year.
- Mandatory training and leadership retreat: August 11 – August 15, 2025.
Duties and responsibilities
• Engage in Leadership Development: Participate in required training and weekly leadership development labs. This includes our annual leadership retreat each August and other professional growth opportunities as scheduled.
• Facilitate Music Ministry: Planning and execution of music ministry for the worship experience in collaboration with the Deliverance Mass Choir (DMC) Director. Liaise with other music ministry sources to plan and execute music for the worship experience.
• Coordinate Worship Logistics: Utilize New Life’s management tool, Planning Center, to input music ministry elements and audio needs for the band. Able to utilize "Planning Center Live" for real-time coordination.
• Skill Development: Assist in identifying areas that need development and work with the Lead Pastor/Chaplain and the Minister of Training and Development to find or create training opportunities to meet development needs.
• Track and Follow Up on Action Items: Document key decisions and action items during meetings to ensure follow-through on initiatives.
