He is known for his thoughtful teaching, genuine care for people and belief that design is something that shapes real lives. He founded Renaissance Kids, a summer program where children get to dive into creativity, design and placemaking through fun, hands-on projects.</p> <p> Over the years, Professor Moreno has taught everything from<br /> Placemaking and Person to Kitchen and Bath Design. He&rsquo;s worked professionally both independently and with architecture firms, bringing practical experience straight into the classroom. He has also shared his ideas at conferences around the world, and his dedication was recognized with the Daniel A. Augsburger Excellence in Teaching Award (2011) and the Heart @ Andrews Award (2018).</p> <p> With degrees from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design and the University of Texas at Arlington, his work highlights how people connect with built environments&mdash;focusing on walkability, community identity and learning through experience. May he continue to inspire and serve others in the years ahead.</p> Mon, Aug 24, 2026 04:30 pm -0400 Retirement Celebration for Denis Fortin https://www.andrews.edu/agenda/69614 <p> Denis Fortin&rsquo;s journey in ministry and scholarship began when, at eighteen, he embraced the Seventh-day Adventist faith. Following his baptism, he pursued theological studies at Canadian Union College, now Burman University, and later at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary, where he completed his Master of Divinity in 1986. While serving in pastoral ministry, he also earned a PhD from Universit&eacute; Laval, writing on the development of Adventist denominations in nineteenth-century Canada. Since joining the Seminary faculty in 1994, Denis has served with distinction not only as professor of historical theology but also in major leadership roles, including MDiv director, department chair, associate dean and dean (2006&ndash;2013). Alongside his administrative and teaching work, he has made lasting scholarly contributions through numerous publications on Adventist history and theology, including a biography of George I. Butler and annotated editions of Ellen G. White&rsquo;s books, among many other subjects.
