Raclin School of the Arts at Indiana University South Bend since its inception in 1968.&nbsp; SBYSO performs three concerts annually, in fall, winter and spring. On June 17, from 7&ndash;9 p.m. at the Howard Performing Arts Center, they will present Ukrainian music culture to the American public as active duty soldiers. &quot;Through music, we will thank the American people for resolute support in helping Ukraine restore its territory and returning peace to Europe.&quot;</div> Wed, 05 Jun 2024 15:12:33 +0000 Advent Euphonic Chorale Gala Concert http://www.andrews.edu/agenda/65236 <p> The Advent Euphonic Chorale, champions in the 12th International Choral Festival Orientale Concentus, Singapore for the chamber and folklore categories, was established in the year 2011. Formerly known as the Harmonic Voices, the group is a part of the Seventh-day Adventist church and uses music in its mission to spread the Gospel.</p> <p> AEC's ministry extends to different parts of the Philippines as well as abroad. Countries where the group has conducted international concert tours include Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan and Singapore. The group participates in both religious and philanthropic events, which often include sacred and gala concerts, hospital and school visitations, and acting as program participants in the church.&nbsp;</p> <p> At present, AEC comprises students and young professionals alike. To date, the group has already released three albums, entitled &quot;The Reason We Sing,&quot; &quot;Music, A Gift From God,&quot; and &ldquo;How Sweet the Sound.&rdquo; Through its songs, the Advent Euphonic Chorale endeavors to reach more people and be a vessel of God's love, hope and peace.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <em><strong>About the musical director:</strong></em></p> <p> <strong>Ray Angelo &quot;R.A.&quot; Capiendo</strong> finished his Masters of Music in choral conducting at St. Paul University Manila, with an academic award of <em>cum laude</em> under Eudenice Palaruan and Professor Oliver Rodriguez. He has been a member and a president of the AUP Ambassadors for almost 10 years under the leadership of Professor Ramon Lijauco Jr. He was with the concert group that won the 2011 Choir of the World title in Wales, United Kingdom and the 2006 World Choir Games in Xiamen, China.&nbsp;</p> <p> His voice mentors include Arnie Lou Salazar-Baker and Mary Anne Lanuzo. Extending to more than singing and directing the chorus, his musical facets include playing the clarinet, having had formal lessons with Dalmacio H. Cruz. He graduated from the Adventist University of the Philippines in the year 2010 with a bachelor's degree in nursing and passed the Nursing Licensure Exam in the same year.</p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> <em><strong>About the pianist:</strong></em></p> <p> <strong>Canes June &quot;Sugar&quot; Tortal-Martinez</strong> took her Bachelor of Music in music education, piano concentration at the Adventist University of the Philippines. Her piano mentors include Rodney Abriol, Joy Pumaras, Evelyn Salibio, Erlinda Corral and the late Evelyn Ronquillo. At present, she is teaching piano at Luisiana Adventist Elementary School and is also an accompanist for voice students in AUP.
