FAQ

Are these programs accredited?

Yes. The computing program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, www.abet.org, and the engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. We are held to the same standard in terms of student outcomes as other institutions with this accreditation. ABET is the most commonly used accreditation for engineering and computing programs in US universities.

Will students get hands-on experience in these programs?

Yes. Both engineering and computing students are required to complete a senior design or senior capstone project, respectively. Also, both programs provide a creative lab where students can work on projects outside of their regular classes. If students come up with an idea worth exploring, the department will support them in making it happen!

Are students successful in obtaining employment once they are finished with their program?

Yes. Our good students often have job offers before they graduate. Average students may work a bit longer to land their first job, but almost all of our graduates are employed in engineering or computer science.

Where do your students work after they finish the program?

Some of the companies that our students have interned and received jobs from include: Lockheed Martin, Dane Systems, Oakridge Nuclear Plant, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Daimler Robotics, Facebook, Whirlpool, LECO, Intel, Stryker, Boeing, Delta Tools, Eagle Technologies, and many more.

What makes studying at Andrews a unique experience versus larger, public institutions?

Visibility. You are seen and known by your professors. They will know your name and they will actually will miss you when you are not in class. Not only will you have a relationship with your advisor and other faculty in your department, you have the opportunity to gain experience with and along side of them! Projects and research are how you gain that experience and our faculty hire students for these student work opportunities.
