ELECTRONIC DATABASES
The Center is responsible for developing and maintaining several important
databases. These include the following.
Seventh-day Adventist Periodical Index
The Seventh-day Adventist Periodical Index began publication in 1971 and
is currently governed by a special board which operates under the auspices
of the Association of Seventh-day Adventist Librarians (ASDAL). The editor
and editorial operation is located at the Center for Adventist Research.
Available online the Index covers periodical articles published by and
about Seventh-day Adventists. With nearly 800,000 entries from 57 titles,
the Index continues to grow by over 20,000 entries a year from 45 current
titles. The beginning date for the Index is steadily moving backward from
1975.

Seventh-day Adventist Obituary Index
This online electronic database contains over 360,000 obituary records
of Seventh-day Adventist members. The actual obituary records are available

Adventist Pioneer Library
Words of the Pioneers (2nd ed.) is a full text electronic resource of
the writings of many notable Adventist pioneers, and important journals.
It contains over 33,000 pages from pioneer monographs and early periodicals
such as Present Truth and Advent Review (1849-1850); Advent Review &
Sabbath Herald (1850-1863); and the General Conference Bulletin (1887-1913).
