Andrews University students and faculty have access to
holdings at other area libraries through three different
programs: the Berrien Library Consortium Infopass program,
the Michicard program, and the OCLC Reciprocal Faculty
Borrowing Program. The following libraries participate in
one or more of these programs.
- Library Consortium
Infopass
- The Berrien Library Consortium (BLC)
is a group of libraries in Berrien County that cooperate
in collection development and information access. To
access the collections at one of the member libraries,
users must secure an Infopass from their own library and
present that to the other library in order to check
materials out. Please contact the reference desk in the
Information Services Department to secure an
Infopass.
-
Michicard
- The James White Library does not currently belong to
the Michicard program. However, all
students have access to it through one or more of the
local public libraries. All Andrews University students
are entitled to a card at the Berrien Springs Community
Library, which is a Michicard participant, as are several
other area libraries including the Eau Claire District
Library, the Lincoln Township Library, and the Maud
Preston Palenske Memorial Library (St. Joseph Public).
After securing a library card at one of these public
libraries, students should be able to receive a Michicard
"endorsement" on their library card.
-
Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing
Program
- The OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing
Program is a nationwide program in which
research libraries give access to faculty at other
research institutions access to their library collections
without a fee. Andrews, Notre Dame and Western Michigan
universities all participate in this noteworthy program.
Circulations rules are governed by the local library.
Participants must, however, obtain a card from their home
library before they are allowed to borrow from
participating libraries. Cards are renewable at the end
of the academic year.
