Effective July 26, Elynda Bedney has been appointed to the position of Director of Student Financial Services.

A search committee composed of Ed Wines-chair, Jim Jeffrey, Stephen Payne, Alfredo Ruiz, Patricia Stewart, Bill Chobotar, and Ellen Murdick was convened May 26 to begin the process of finding a new director. A careful search ensued, which involved:
1. Inviting trustees, union presidents and others to submit names of possible candidates
2. Posting the job on the University web site
3. Inviting many of the student financial directors or associate directors of other SDA colleges and universities to consider applying
4. A careful review of seven résumés and applications.
The search committee voted unanimously to recommend Bedney for the position.  

Bedney has been a member of the Andrews University staff since 1987, when she served as Student Accounts Manager, a position she held for two years. In 1989, Bedney took on the position of Associate Director of Student Accounts, and following the merger of Student Accounts and Student Financial Aid, became the Associate Director of Student Financial Services, a position which she has held until the present time.  

While working full-time, Bedney completed a Masters of Science in Administration degree with an emphasis in Management, graduating from Andrews in 1998. Bedney graduated in 1980 from Oakwood College with a BS in Business Administration.

For her years of leadership, hard work, service, and dedication, Bedney received the Employee of the Year Award in 2005.
