WELCOME

to Dr. Coffen’s Audio Timer web site.

To create an audible tone that chimes every 5 minutes, you may download and use any of the zipped .WAV audio files below free of charge, but you will need to have some technical savvy as described below.

Alternatively, you may request a CD that will meet your specific requirements as described below.

5-minute loop .WAV files (compressed in .ZIP format to dramatically reduce download size and times):

1.      Right-click ding01.zip and select “Save Target As...” to download (242k; spacey rapid rising organ glissando)

2.      Right-click ding02.zip and select “Save Target As...” to download (148k; echoey high-pitched bell chimes)

3.      Right-click ding03.zip and select “Save Target As...” to download (96k; spacey rapid rising piano glissando)

4.      Right-click ding04.zip and select “Save Target As...” to download (168k; slow rising guitar glissando)

5.      Right-click ding05.zip and select “Save Target As...” to download (87k; short high-pitched 4-tone ding)

6.      Right-click ding06.zip and select “Save Target As...” to download (114k; short 3-tone rising glissando)

To accomplish the tone every 5 minutes using the .WAV files above:

·    You must first un-zip the .ZIP file.  This will create a .WAV file.

·    Play the .WAV tone on a computer using software (e.g., Windows Media Player) that allows you to loop the audio file and re-start playing it when the end of the audio file is reached.  In Windows Media Player, the loop button should look like this in the recent versions of Media Player: .

·    Or, you can use CD burning software to burn the .WAV file to a CD and then use the track-repeat button on your CD player to loop the track so that it re-starts playing when the end of the track is reached.

·    Or, the .WAV file could also be converted and saved on a personal media device that plays audio files, e.g., an MP3 player or IPod using the software that came with the device for transferring audio files to the device.

·    NOTE:  The tone sounds at the beginning so that you can be sure the audio volume is sufficiently loud for the environment in which you will be playing it.

To request a CD of an audio file:

1.      Send an email to jrcoffen@hotmail.com with the following information for each CD you are requesting:

a.    Which .WAV file you want (if you don’t specify one, I will select one at random).  Alternatively, you may email the MP3 sound file that you want to be the tone.

b.    How long you want between tones (e.g., 5 minutes, 6 minutes, 10 minutes, etc.)

c.     Whether you want the track to be 1 hour long (so you don’t have to use the repeat or loop option on your CD player), or, whether you want the track to be just as long as the time between tones (which would then require you to use the repeat or loop feature on your CD player).  You may also specify any variation in track length (e.g., 30-minutes long, etc., although it must be divisible by the length of time between tones).

d.    Your mailing address to send the completed CD to.  (Sorry, I can only ship to continental U.S. addresses.)

2.      Make a payment for the CD using PayPal (www.paypal.com; you do not have to have a PayPal account in order to send a payment using your credit card or bank account).  Here is the cost schedule:

a.    1 CD:  $10 (includes all shipping and handling and media charges)

b.    Each additional CD to the same address:  $2.50

3.      CDs will be sent via USPS Media Mail which can take awhile.
