Theory/Practice Relationships

Four possible ways to think about the relationship between theory and practice:
Logistic - T-P separate worlds - fundamental assumption that practice is irrational
Operational - Practice furnishes researchers with problems to study
Problematic - Solve situational problems - may use theory
Dialectic - Practice is theory in action - researchers and practitioners as participants in inquiry
