Exploring Training Needs of Pastors Serving in the Lake Union Conference.
The purpose of this study is to identify training needs for pastors to meet the whole person needs of their congregants. We are proposing a systematic approach to addressing these challenges, by conducting a survey to collect data about the types of challenges that pastors experience in their congregation that extend beyond spiritual counseling and support. Using findings from the survey, we will address these needs through the development of a comprehensive training approach using stackable certificates/continuing education units whereby pastors can receive training and certification in the areas of needs of their members and congregants. To develop these trainings, experts in the fields of social work, chaplaincy, and pastoral care will be consulted. In addition, experts will be identified to create these pre-recorded trainings.
