The DORA College Program
Learn to recognize depression and help prevent suicide
Thu, October 25, 2012 @ 06:30 pm - 07:30 pm
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among college students. In our college community, students have the ability to identify and support peers who are struggling with depression and thoughts about suicide. Only 11% of students who disclose their suicidal thoughts tell a counseling professional, but 67% tell a peer (Drum et al., 2009). In this workshop, students will learn to identify when a peer may be struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. They will also learn how they can provide support and connect their peers to the professional resources available on campus.
The program is open to AU students and it's free of charge. Co-curricular credit is available. Limited to 26 students. Please email cluis@andrews.edu to reserve your space.
