Buchanan Art Center Offers 'Artist's Talk'

The Buchanan Art Center welcomes photographer Butch Welch for an “Artist’s Talk” on Friday June 12, from 4-5 pm, where he will discuss work from his BAC gallery show; A Journey Along the Shores -- (which runs from Wednesday, June 3 through Saturday, July 18, 2015) In his talk, Butch will discuss the images in his show, his shooting locations, as well as the role of lighting and the weather when taking his photographs. He will talk a bit about the lighthouses themselves, and will relate the stories behind some of his images. Also covered will be the emotional connection Butch feels with the subjects while making the photographs, and later expressing those emotions through his prints. Free and open to the public.

The Buchanan Art Center is located at 117 West Front Street in Buchanan, Michigan. The Center features three galleries with rotating exhibits of regional artists’ works, a program of educational art classes for all ages, and a gift shop offering works of local artists. Current hours are Monday – Thursday 10:00 am-6:00 pm, Friday 10:00 am–5:00 pm, and Saturday 10:00 am–4:00 pm. Closed Sundays.
