Lakeland Introduces New Eight-Week Weight Loss Program

   Agenda | Posted on June 2, 2015

The Lakeland Comprehensive Weight Loss Center has launched the LEAN (Lifestyle Enhancement through Activity and Nutrition) program, an eight-week course designed for anyone interested in weight loss and creating lasting lifestyle changes. The first set of classes will take place on Wednesdays, beginning June 10 and concluding August 5, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room at Lakeland Medical Suites, Niles, located at 42 N. St. Joseph Avenue. Additional dates and locations are in the process of being scheduled.

LEAN participants will learn about nutrition, exercise, and well-being from health experts, including a psychologist, certified personal trainer, registered dietitian, and nurse practitioner. The program will utilize a small group setting to allow attendees to support and encourage one another.

“In LEAN, we will challenge participants each week to try new skills such as reading nutrition labels, keeping food journals, making healthy choices at grocery stores and restaurants, and finding forms of exercise that they enjoy,” said Katelyn Dinkgrave, Registered Dietitian, Lakeland Health. “We’ll also tackle the issues that can lead to regaining weight, from emotional eating to losing motivation.”

Cost for the full eight-week LEAN program is $80, and space is limited to 12 participants. At the conclusion of the eight-week program, attendees will have the option to attend one class each month at no additional cost to help maintain their new healthy lifestyle.
