Passing of Brad Hinman's Mother

Brad Hinman, faculty member in Andrews' School of Education, and his family are mourning the loss of his mother, Norma Ruth Hinman who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City; just one day shy of her 84th birthday. Brad's wife, Patty, works in the Plant Administration Office, their son, Aaron, works in the Grounds Department and son, Kory, is a student at Andrews.

Norma was a true matriarch, she worked hard to provide for her family and dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She maintained and retired from a position with Cadillac Rubber & Plastic (which later became Avon Automotive). In addition, she worked around the farm, inside and out, all the while helping to raise seven kids. Norma often spent downtime solving cross-word puzzles, watching The Young and the Restless, or listening to some county music, which generally included Conway Twitty. She loved spending time in the kitchen baking pies or cookies for her family to enjoy or canning the produce from their bountiful garden for future meals. Norma was an involved and attentive mother who was strict enough when need be. She will be deeply missed and remembered for always being there when needed and supportive of her children and grandchildren's many activities.

Norma is survived by her husband, Ed Hinman of Manton; six sons, Rick (Debbie) Hinman, Randy Hinman, Kelly (Michelle) Whitehead, Keith (Celia) Whitehead, Brian (Vickey) Hinman, and Brad (Patty) Hinman, and one daughter, Debbi Hinman (Haas), and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Hall-Holdship Funeral Home. Memorial services will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 22, 2015 also at the Hall-Holdship Funeral Home in Manton with Rev. Bart Glupker officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Hinman Family, in care of Brian Hinman, 11211 East 12 Road, Manton, MI 49663, toward a cause to be determined at a later date.
