Wedgwood Trio to Perform at Howard Center

Howard Performing Arts Center | Posted on September 29, 2015

On Saturday, October 3, at 8 p.m., the Howard Performing Arts Center will present Wedgwood Trio, a Southern Gospel and folk trio singing familiar tunes and favorite hymns. A fiddler and keyboardist will join them for the concert.

Bob Sommerour, guitar and banjo, Jerry Hoyle, string bass and harmonica, and Don Vollmer, guitar, formed the trio in 1964. During the 60s and 70s, the group was played on Christian radio stations, and is still heard on many Christian Southern Gospel radio stations today. Their simplicity and original sound endears them to new audiences and brings musical nostalgia to longtime fans. The Wedgwood Trio will perform a variety of Gospel favorites that will keep Gospel fans tapping their toes. Joining them are fiddler Christina Thompson and Mark Bond on keyboard, banjo and guitar.

Tickets are reserved seating and cost $15. Student tickets are $8. They can be purchased online at howard.andrews.edu or at the box office by calling 888-467-6442. Tickets will also be available the night of the concert. The box office opens on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m.

This concert is sponsored by Schalk & Associates, a financial advisory practice of Ameriprise Financial Services.
