What if you could no longer perform everyday tasks like driving, texting, or simply buttoning your shirt?  These are just a few of the daily obstacles faced by the more than 30,000 persons in Michigan afflicted with Parkinson's disease.

Making the Turn Against Parkinson's is pleased to announce the creation of a $2,500 scholarship to be awarded each year to a student submitting an essay describing their relationship with a relative diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, that best exemplifies living well with Parkinson's.

The award is believed to be the first of its kind in Michigan, targeted solely at students from families directly impacted by Parkinson's. According to Making the Turn, President, Todd Gardner, "Our goal is to spark a passion for making a difference in young people who may one day be in a position to influence the fight against Parkinson's disease."

Eligibility requirements include Michigan residency, accepted or enrolled in an institution of higher learning, and proof that a relative has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.  A written essay of no more than 2,500 words explaining what the student has learned about Parkinson’s from their relative is also required.
