Come sing-a-long with the Pioneer Memorial Church Sanctuary Choir as they perform selections from Handel’s “Messiah” at Pioneer Memorial Church on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 4 p.m.

Composed by George Frideric Handel in 1741, “Messiah” is an English-language oratorio with scriptural text from the King James Bible. Reflecting on Jesus Christ as the Messiah, the text begins with the prophecies of Isaiah and ends with the famous “Hallelujah” chorus. Since its first performance in 1742, it has become one of the most popular and frequently performed choral works in Western music.

The event is free and open to the public.
