Wife of Former Seminary Dean Passes Away

Louise Dederen, age 89, died Sunday, December 13, 2015, after complications due to a fall. Louise was the wife of Raoul Dederen, former dean and professor emeritus of the Seminary.

She was born February 15, 1926 in Pepinster, Belgium, the daughter of Maurice and Marie Fyon. A dedicated archivist and developer of the Heritage Center at Andrews University, Louise was the first woman and non-academic to receive the prestigious John Nevins Andrews Medallion.

As a member of the Ann Arbor Seventh-day Adventist Church, she will be missed by many. As a wonderful and loving wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Louise will be particularly missed by her husband of 68 years, Raoul Dederen, her granddaughters Francine Bergmann and Sheila Besirli, and their families. Louise will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 17, at 1 p.m. at the Nie Family Funeral Home Liberty Road Chapel, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48103. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until time of services.
