"The Laramie Project" at the Box Factory

The Box Factory Theatre Company, 1101 Broad St., St616-318-1. Joseph, MI presents The Laramie Project” which is sponsored by the PRIDE network of Whirlpool Corporation.  The play is being directed by Carole Catherine. Performance dates are Friday, March 11, and Saturday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13th   at 2 p.m.  Tickets are available online with PayPal at www.boxfactoryforthearts.org, by phone at 269-983-3688 or at the door, starting a half prior to the performance time.  The program may be best suited for mature audiences due to subject matter.

 

The Laramie Project, written by Moises Kaufman and the Tectonic Theater Project, is a result of hundreds of interviews done in Laramie, Wyoming after the savage killing of Matthew Shepard. Shepard is the young gay man whose brutal murder in 1998 has symbolized America's struggle with intolerance. The powerful play, with support from the Matthew Shepard Foundation, features eleven actors playing over 60 characters, portraying the honest perspectives of both friends and strangers in the community. There will be a talk-back with audiences and Out Center representatives after each performance. This material may not be suitable for younger audiences.
