Blessing of the Fleet at Mich. Maritime Museum

Community Announcements | Posted on May 23, 2016

The Michigan Maritime Museum will be kicking off the season with a Members Only event Friday, May 27th beginning at 5:30pm. Please join us and Pastor Bob Linstrom on the Orley Dock as he conducts our annual Blessing of the Fleet. He will bless all of our On-Water vessels and send our fleet off for a fun and safe 2016 season! In addition to our existing fleet of Friends Good Will, Lindy Lou, Pouf, Bernida, and Flashback, Pastor Linstrom will also bless our collaborative partner Elsie J. (owned by Bob and Kathy Jensen) and our newly acquired vessel Wilhelm Baum.  Thanks to a generous donation from SHOUT for South Haven, the Museum welcomes Wilhelm Baum back to our dock as a permanent addition to our fleet. A donation check presentation from SHOUT to the Museum and a rechristening of the Baum will occur as part of the Blessing ceremony. The Museum would like to extend an invitation to SHOUT for South Haven members and members of the press as our guests to the season kickoff festivities.

Following the Blessing will be our Members BBQ Picnic. Join fellow members for a delicious BBQ basket and some great company all while enjoying a fantastic view of the harbor. Adults $10, kids $5. RSVP to 269-637-8078 by May 23rd. Not a Museum member yet? It’s not too late to join in the fun and become a Museum member today!
