Engineering Expanding into Harrigan Hall
Engineering has grown 40% over the last 4 years.
With the increase in students in the Engineering and Computer Science Department more space then just the 3rd floor of Haughey Hall was needed.
Until an additional pod can be added to the science complex we have been scouting the campus looking for space that we can use. It came to light that there was some space in Harrigan Hall. Although Harrigan Hall houses the Visual Arts and Design Department, the Deans offices for School of Health Sciences and Lithotech there were a couple of rooms not being used so Engineering has been moving into those spaces this summer.
School year 2016-2017 will find the Department of Engineering & Computer Science in two buildings - 3rd floor Haughey Hall will still house Computer Science faculty and classes with a few Engineering classes still held there. Then most of of the Engineering faculty and classrooms will be over in Harrigan Hall. Downstairs Harrigan Hall will be 4 labs, 2 faculty offices and 2 research offices. Main floor will be the rest of the engineering faculty offices and one classroom. Then on the top floor there will be classes held in the auditorium and one more classroom.
We still need more room - Engineering needs to have everything in one place so a couple more labs, another classroom and an auditorium that will fit our whole department (approx 150) would be great! We are looking forward to the STEMplex being funded and built so that Engineering will have an adequate home for all their student's needs.
