A $17.5 million Health & Wellness Center is on its way to the Andrews University campus.

University officials announced this week they have already raised $15.5 million in gifts and pledges and plan to have the center up and operating by the fall 2019.

Audrey Castelbuono, Andrews associate vice president for development, was among the speakers at Thursday evening’s official campaign kickoff for the project.

“The past four and a half years has been the quiet phase as we have been going around finding leadership gifts. Now we feel like we can go public,” she said.

She said the university will start having architects develop formal plans next spring, break ground in spring 2018 and have a ribbon-cutting and opening by fall 2019.

The center will be on the front edge of campus, not far Pioneer Memorial Church or the Howard Performing Arts Center. Castelbuono said the location was chosen with students and community in mind.
