An Andrews Christmas

| Posted on December 12, 2016

Andrews University is the second most ethnically diverse university in the nation and ties for seventh place for percentage of international students (U.S. News & World Report, 2016). This diversity is something we enjoy on a daily basis. At Christmas, it is especially fun to identify and celebrate the cultural differences that have come together as part of the story of Andrews University.

In 2015 we began an annual tradition of celebrating cultural holiday traditions by asking University community members to describe Christmas traditions in the culture in which they grew up. This year we have continued the tradition. Check back often for new videos being added regularly.

If you are a member of the Andrews community (students, staff, faculty, alumni, volunteers) and would like to share your cultural Christmas traditions, we would be happy to have you participate. Please see below for instructions.

To Participate in "An Andrews Christmas"

  • Videos can be done on smart phones, using a web cam, or put together on your PC. Whatever you are most comfortable doing is just fine. Simple is best. (For examples of what was done last year, watch the 2015 playlist on YouTube.)
  • Videos should be at least 30 seconds long and no longer than about two minutes.
  • In the opening of your video make sure to identify the culture from which you are sharing.
  • Once you are ready to submit your video, email the file or a link to download the file to pr@andrews.edu. In the email please identify yourself, the country/state/culture you are representing, and your connection to Andrews. If you are a student, please give your year and major. If you are staff/faculty please provide your official title. If you are alumni, please identify the year you graduated and what degree you received. If you are a volunteer, please specify such.

Thank you for your interest in celebrating the unique diversity that makes Andrews University the special place it is.
