“From Runaway Nun to Wife of Renegade Monk”

RSVP Required: alumni.andrews.edu/homecoming, or call 269-471-6667 (please note any dietary restrictions when you RSVP)

Please join us for a complimentary brunch and a presentation by Trevor O’Reggio, professor of church history in the seminary, titled “From Runaway Nun to Wife of Renegade Monk.”

Trevor will speak on Katarina von Bora, the nun who married Martin Luther. This October will be the 500th anniversary of Luther nailing his 95 theses to the church door at Wittenberg. The message of the Reformation reached a group of nuns in a nearby district. After reading Luther’s works, they wrote him, asking for his help to escape the convent. Luther arranged their escape in empty fish barrels (front image used with permission from Rev. Scott Blazek, “The 500th Anniversary of the Reformation coloring book). Come hear the rest of the story!
