Faith of Our Fathers

A vespers recital of hymns & African-American spirituals

On Friday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m., voice students of the Andrews University Department of Music will host a vocal recital vespers in the Howard Performing Arts Center.

The program will journey through hymn arrangements and settings of African-American spirituals and will feature familiar favorites such as “Deep River,” “Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah,” “Steal Away,” “Children of the Heavenly Father,” “Give Me Jesus,” “Be Thou My Vision,” “Jesus Paid It All,” “This Little Light of Mine” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Selections include arrangements by Ovid Young, Craig Courtney, Eric Thiman, Robert A. Reid, Moses Hogan, Harry T. Burleigh and Mark Hayes.
