All is peaceful and quiet in the small town of Messina, Sicily, until a prince of Aragon and his entourage of soldiers and servants decide to pay them a visit. They bring joy and festivity with them to the House of Leonato and cause two couples to be thrust together, one under a disguise and the other through the careful machinations of the prince. Observing all this is the prince's bastard brother and his minions whose soul craves to ruin the happiness of those around him because his heart is that of a villain.
