Established in 1946, the Aeolians present a choral music repertoire ranging from the Baroque era to the 21st century and have become an authoritative exponent of Negro spirituals and Work songs. They have performed in symphony halls throughout the world with the likes of world-acclaimed soprano Kathleen Battle. In 2012 they visited Moscow as part of the Russia-U.S. Bilateral Presidential Commission. Later that year they competed at the seventh World Choir Games earning three gold medals and overall championship in the Spiritual category. In July 2017, they won the Choir of the World award and the Pavarotti Trophy at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, United Kingdom. They have been presented with keys to the City of Huntsville in Alabama and have December 3 and December 5 named in their honor.
