University Singers: "A Night to Unite"
Sat, October 20, 2018 @ 08:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Cessant Lites (Let us Cease!)—“A Night to Unite” is the theme of the Collegiate Choral Invitational under the direction of Stephen Zork, featuring the Andrews University Singers, University Chorale, and I Cantori. The program will be in the Howard Performing Arts Center on October 20 at 8 p.m.
Kleberson Calanca, a Master of Music in choral conducting student, will lead the University Singers and Chorale in emotive music that celebrates the dignity and value of each person. Select repertoire will include Benjamin Kornelis’ "Let Us Not Become Weary," Eric Nelson‘s "When Memory Fades," Kim Andre Arnesen’s "Even When He Is Silent," Z. Randall Stroope’s "Caritas et Amor," Guilio Caccini’s "Donna Nobis Pacem," René Clausen’s "Kyrie" from "Memorial," and Craig Hella Johnson’s "All of Us!"
Included in the concert’s enlightening choral selections will be "Psalm 23 & Psalm 2:1–4" from Leonard Bernstein’s "Chichester Psalms" conducted by Giovanni Corrodus, "Sanctus" from Robert Ray’s "Gospel Mass" conducted by Megan Mocca, and Arnesen’s "The Lamb" conducted by Ronnie Zanella. Professor Zork will lead the University Singers in a stirring arrangement of the spiritual "Hold On" arranged by John Tebay. All the conductors are choral conducting graduate students of Stephen Zork.
