The Michigan Maritime Museum’s Maritime Lecture Series will begin the year with presenter Jennifer Richmond-Anabeh, Collections Manager at the Heritage Museum & Cultural Center in St. Joseph, MI. Mrs. Anabeh will engage the audience with the story of the Truscott Boat Manufacturing Company. This family-owned company played an integral role in local, regional, national and international history, spanning both World Wars. The company produced everything from small rowboats, large yachts and military craft, to manufacturing every component in-house. Their patented designs and revered manufacturing processes hold a special place in wooden boatbuilding history and tradition the world over. “The Museum’s own river launch Lindy Lou is based on a Truscott Launch and we feature the local company in our current WWII exhibit,” says Director of Education Ashley Deming. “We’re excited to have Mrs. Anabeh as part of our lecture series to discuss such an important part of our local maritime history.”

Jennifer Richmond-Anabeh, a native of Mattawan, Michigan has served as a Conservation Consultant for The Heritage Museum and Cultural Center since 2011. Mrs. Ananbeh brings in-depth knowledge of the technical needs to properly preserve and display museum collections at The Heritage Museum. She joined the HMCC staff as Museum Specialist in 2015; while also working as Archivist for the Historical Association of South Haven as well as Preservation Specialist for the City of Niles, Michigan. Previously, she has worked on conservation projects for the Chapin Mansion at the Niles History Center, Western Michigan University Archives and Regional History Collections, and the Victoria H. Myhren Gallery at the University of Denver, as well as various projects in Florence, Italy. She earned her B.A. in Fine Art, minor in Art History with honors from Western Michigan University and an Art Conservation Degree from SACI in Florence, Italy. She has lived in South Haven, Michigan since 1999.

The lecture will take place in the Museum’s Lake Michigan’s Call to Duty exhibit from 6:30pm-7:30pm on January 16th. Admission is $8, $7 for seniors.  There is no admission fee for Museum members. The Museum will be open beginning at noon the day of the lecture and 10am-5pm Fridays and Saturdays the month of January.
