La Sierra University, a WASC-accredited Seventh-day Adventist university with the distinction of having twice been ranked #1 in the nation for diversity by the Wall Street Journal and nationally recognized with the President’s Higher Education Service Learning Honor Roll Award, invites applications for the position of president, to begin serving July 1, 2019. A successful candidate will be an active member of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, with demonstrated leadership experience in higher education and the paired vision and enthusiasm required to lead the campus as it builds on its reputation for fostering academic excellence in an environment that affirms Christian faith.

La Sierra University seeks a leader who is passionate about the distinctive culture of a liberal arts university on a campus rich with ethnic, cultural and religious diversity that includes residential, commuter and international students. The candidate must be committed to diversity, inclusion, and social justice and must be able to articulate a compelling vision of the university’s mission, persuasively advocating for the institution and inspiring support from multiple audiences, including the civic community. The candidate’s leadership style should be based on teamwork, candor, unwavering integrity and must be student-focused and Christ-centered. He or she must be prepared to make a long-term commitment to this assignment (i.e., three to ten years).

Applicants for president of La Sierra University are expected to have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline, and higher education teaching experience is preferred.
