The LMYO Winds, Concert Strings, Encore Strings, and Youth Symphony will perform in the Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra Spring Concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday May 12, 2019, at the Howard Performing Arts Center. Come enjoy soloist Kathy Zhang playing "Zigeunerweisen op. 20 (Gypsy Airs)" and a cello highlight from the Encore Strings. The groups will be conducted by Mark Hollandsworth, Beth Oeseburg, Rachel Cabanilla-Sinnett and Burke Lokey. This is Mark’s first time conducting the LMYO Winds. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children and seniors.

The Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra is an educational component of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra. It has provided an orchestral experience for talented young musicians in southwest Michigan from kindergarten age to college senior for over 40 years. The four ensembles reflect the advancement to more complex music as students progress on their instruments. Membership is by audition. The orchestra performs four public concerts each year, and the program includes scholarships to summer music camps, sectional rehearsals with members of the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra and free tickets to SMSO concerts.
