COVID-19 Update: Dining Services Operations

Dear Campus Community,

I wanted to share with you some significant updates on the hours and operations of Dining Services/Bon Appétit.

Earlier this afternoon, I heard from Chef Linda Brinegar, general manager of Dining Services/Bon Appétit, and she shared the following details of operations and meal costs, beginning a week from today, Sunday, March 22. Many of these details, including now serving all of our meals takeout and with the food we eat served by our staff (vs. dishing up our own food), are driven by the Health Department, CDC and other state and federal guidelines developed in response to the spread of the COVID-19 disease.

Below you’ll find the hours of operation for both the Gazebo and Terrace Café, beginning March 22. With this new approach, the charges for all meals during this time period will be $7.95 for a single portion meal. Additionally, since the takeaway boxes will contain pre-determined single portions our current faculty, staff and senior discounts, as well as child pricing, will be suspended until we are able to return to normal operating hours and approaches. That date will be driven by guidelines from local and national health authorities, as well as state and federal guidelines.

Gazebo
Sunday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. (Brunch/Hot Food until 6 p.m./Retail until 7 p.m.)
Monday–Friday, 9–11:30 a.m. (Hot Food/Retail)
Monday–Thursday, 1:30–7 p.m. (Retail Only)
Friday, 1:30–4 p.m. (Retail Only)
(Effective March 22 and in place until health and government guidelines change)

Terrace Café
Sunday, Closed
Monday–Friday, 11:30 a.m.– 1:30 p.m. (Lunch)
Monday–Friday, 5–6 p.m. (Dinner)
Sabbath 12:30–2 p.m. (Lunch)
(Effective March 22 and in place until health and government guidelines change)

We’re thankful for your support as we take on this new approach for our on-campus food services in the face of our country’s response to the spread of COVID-19. Our regular spring break hours will be in effect for the remainder of this week, with the Terrace Café closed and the Gazebo open for meals. You can review the spring break schedule here.

We cherish your prayers, and please know that all of us here are joining in those prayers for God’s wisdom, guidance and peace as we move through these challenging days for our campus, our country and our world.

Sincerely,

Chip Meekma
Vice President for Financial Administration
