COVID-19: A Request for Extra Care

Dear campus community,

Last week I sent you a message to let you know that, as a campus, we have done well with our COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

We truly have!

However, this virus takes quick turns and, as I write this note, there has been a significant uptick in cases in Berrien County, home to our Berrien Springs campus. In fact, the number of positive COVID-19 cases in each of the last three days here in Berrien County exceeds the highest number of cases, by day, since May. Hospital admissions for COVID-19 in Berrien County have also been increasing in recent days.

What does this mean for our Andrews University community?

I would ask that over the next few weeks each one of us makes a renewed commitment to increase our vigilance and consistently makes our own personal contributions to COVID-19 risk mitigation.

As you may know, as we face the risks of this global pandemic, we are safest when we are at home, and/or on campus, operating within our agreed safety measures to prevent and fight COVID-19. It’s also essential that each one of us takes particular care when traveling in the area and to especially avoid carpooling or places where there are large gatherings or events where we are unable to physically distance.

Also, please be consistent in your hand washing/sanitizing and in wearing face coverings. Please also make sure you make use of your Campus Clear app on a DAILY basis. Remember, consistent use of Campus Clear will help assure a quick response from our contact tracing team to help manage any potential outbreaks in our Andrews University community.

Thank you very much for your support in keeping our campus and our community safe.
