How to Use Data to Energize Organizational Innovation

Karen Tilstra is the founder and president of Creative Effect. Over the past 10 years, she has created innovation labs and developed Design Thinking teams for healthcare systems, government agencies, universities and Fortune 500 companies.

Karen co-designed the nation's first undergraduate degree in Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship at Rollins College, plus developed an organizational innovation model, the Orchard Model of Innovation. Karen has served as university faculty for universities in the U.S. and Asia. Currently, she is a visiting professor at Rollins College and AdventHealth University. She was the Executive Fellow for Innovation at Santa Clara University 2015–2020 and served on Innovation Advisory boards both in the U.S. and Europe.

Twice Karen has presented at TEDx and spoken nationally and internationally. Karen holds a PhD in leadership, an EdS in educational psychology and is a certified professional member of the International Association of Innovation Professionals.

Karen and her team have facilitated more than 610 Design Thinking projects for over 37 national & international companies, hospitals, government agencies and universities. She has received three innovation awards: Des Cummings Innovation Award, Front End Innovation Design Thinking Award and the European Innovators Award.
