35 Years of Service: Allen Wellborn
Manager, Office of Custodial Services
We want to celebrate the fact that Allen Wellborn has achieved 35 years of service for Andrews University. It takes a special focus to devote that amount of time to one employer. We all know Allen as a quiet individual who is always there when you need him, and you can count on him to get the job done. A great example of that is over the past couple of years with COVID.
When we found ourselves at the start of the whole pandemic it was Allen and his team that stepped up to make sure the campus of Andrews University was as clean and safe as they could make it for everyone. He and his team made a special effort to be sure that cleaning schedules were made and adhered to. That helped to facilitate a safer environment for us to go to school and to work. We are very thankful for that. But this type of attitude is what he is noted for all the time, and we daily see the results of a clean environment around us.
Allen is a pleasure to work with and a wonderful resource for the University. Here are some kind words from his colleagues: “Allen treats his staff like family, looking out for each one like an older sibling or father would. If something needs to be done last minute, he will pitch in and cheerfully help to get it done.”
Another says, “Working for Allen for the past 10 years has been a joy. He is definitely a hard worker and extremely helpful to students and anyone he comes in contact with. He knows how to get the job done but also makes the day fun and likes to joke around once in a while. I am really grateful to be working with him as part of this great team!”
I think these two quotes summarize how all of us on campus think of Allen and what he does for each of us here.
Congratulations, Allen, on a job well done!
