Death of Doris Hall

Life Stories | Posted on July 7, 2022

Doris Hall, 87, of St. Joseph, Michigan, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at Stately Living in St. Joseph.

Doris was born Sept. 6, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Herbert & Martha (Johnson) Dodson. She was raised by Watkins Barney Oglesby and Jessie Irene (Johnson) Oglesby. On Dec. 27, 1952, she married Wilbur Donald Hall in Georgia. Doris worked as church secretary at the Garden Grove Seventh-day Adventist Church in California for sixteen years, in order to help pay for her sons’ Adventist Christian Education. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing the piano, singing and reading.

Doris was a passionate disciple of Jesus Christ and a dedicated member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She devoted much time to Bible study, prayer (in particular for her family) and sharing the love of Jesus with others. She now awaits her cherished hope of the resurrection where she will see her savior and friend (Jesus) face-to-face and be reunited with her family.

Following the death of her husband (Donald) in 2017, Doris moved from California to Michigan to be closer to her son Kenley and his family. She never liked Michigan winters and always joked about just hibernating until spring.

Doris is survived by her sons Kenley (Roshelle) Hall and Kells (Vicki) Hall; and grandchildren, Maya Heven, Joshua Hall and Daniel Hall. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service. Doris will have a private service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in South Fulton, Georgia, and a memorial service for family and friends will be held on Aug. 13 at 2 p.m at the Seminary Chapel on the campus of Andrews University. Memorials may be made to the Seminary Promise Fund at Andrews University. Those wishing to share a memory of Doris online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com.
