Sunday Music Series: Eun-Jung Auh & Chi Yong Yun

Join Eun-Jung Auh, soprano, and Chi Yong Yun, pianist, as they showcase art songs by two of the most significant instrumental composers of the classical era: Franz Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven. The new capabilities of the powerful English pianoforte inspired the development of the Art Song by these two composers. Haydn’s English songs, the canzonettas, left a strong impression on his protege, Beethoven. Beethoven’s "An die fern Geliebte (To the Distant Beloved)" has long been considered the first song cycle by a major composer and subsequently influenced the lieder of F. Schubert, R. Schumann and many others.
