WAUS Thank-You Concert Features Symphony Orchestra
On April 15, 2023, at 8:30 p.m.
The Andrews University Symphony Orchestra is set to give its final performance of the season on April 15, 2023, at 8:30 p.m. in the Howard Performing Arts Center. As a thank-you to donors, classical radio station WAUS is sponsoring the concert, making it free of charge for all attendees. WAUS is located inside the Howard Performing Arts Center.
This concert also marks the end of the orchestra’s first season under the direction of the newly appointed conductor, Marc Élysée. The program will feature a variety of works, including Debussy’s “Claire de Lune” from the Suite Bergamasque, Brahms’ “Concerto for Violin, Violoncello and Orchestra, Op. 102,” and Shostakovich's “Festive Overture in A major, Op. 96.”
The Brahms piece will feature two distinguished faculty members from the Department of Music, Carla Trynchuk on violin and Chris Wild on cello. The “Festive Overture,” composed by Shostakovich in just one day, will provide a celebratory send-off to the orchestra's graduating students in recognition of their diligent work and discipline.
This concert promises to be a night of stunning music, and the Andrews University Symphony Orchestra invites everyone to come and enjoy this musical celebration.
