GUEST SPEAKER BIO
Prestene Garnenez is a passionate advocate in the revitalization and balanced growth of her community of Red Lake-Navajo located on the Navajo Nation (Indian reservation); she is a Navajo/Dine' tribal member of the Navajo Nation and was raised in the community of Red Lake-Navajo. She is a founding member of the local grassroots organization, the Red Lake-Navajo Community Action Group working to improve the quality of life in the Red Lake-Navajo community, and a member of the NFPI Clean-up Community Advisory Committee which advises, guides and supports the remediation/clean-up of the former Navajo Forest Products Industry (NFPI) sawmill site, a former business enterprise of the Navajo Nation. She's one of two founders of the Dzil Ditlooi School of Empowerment, Action & Perseverance (DEAP) Charter School which focuses on Dine' culture, language and values. Currently she serves as the executive director for Navajo Townsite Community Development Corporation, a non-profit located in Navajo, New Mexico.
